The emergence of identity architecture
ASSELMEYER ARCHITEKT Hamburg: Formerly Corporate Architecture – today Identity Architecture® – Identity Architecture is the new and unique standard in architecture today
Hamburg – “An architect must be a visionary in the sense of the human being, the user of the respective building. A building must also convey its task, its purpose and thus its inner identity to the outside world. The office or factory building of a bakery company must be designed not only functionally but also visually differently from the office building of a tourism company or the corporate headquarters for an IT company. There must be an effective harmony between clients, users, functionality or purpose and brand image. Architecture ultimately always affects people. Formerly Corporate Architecture – today Identity Architecture®”, says Hamburg-based architect Justus Asselmeyer, who has been running his own architectural practice ASSELMEYER ARCHITEKT in Hamburg since 2021, developing and driving the uncompromising implementation of Identity Architecture® – for the benefit of its users.
Already during the studies the idea of identity architecture
Many architects spend their careers working as agents for clients and managing projects. It is built what is acquired. But this is precisely where Hamburg architect Justus Asselmeyer sees the problem with modern architecture. With this experience, the identity architecture was born. The term is trademarked to ensure the expression of this unique way of thinking for the Hamburg architectural firm. Already the first designs on the occasion of workshops, but also in the context of competitions and tenders won prizes and awards.
As early as 2010, the young architect Asselmeyer was awarded a diploma with distinction from the Institute for Industrial Construction and Structural Design at the Technical University of Braunschweig. Concentrated knowledge about modern architecture and modern technology
How important scientific and professional stations are for the development and further education of an architect was shown for Justus Asselmeyer during his studies at the Institute for Building and Solar Technology with Univ. Prof. Dr.-Ing. M. Norbert Fisch. “This is where the foundations for sustainable building were laid for me. The experience in the field of thermal building physics and technical building equipment is still important for me today in my planning work,” says Asselmeyer.

Especially the targeted selection of the career during the main study, shows where the journey goes. In the Braunschweig architectural office of O.M. Architekten, it was the independent processing of several competition projects and the implementation planning of housing projects. The opportunity to work in a renowned architectural office in the Big Apple was seized and the years in the New York WXY studio in Manhattan became formative and were the fund from which the Hamburg architect Justus Asselmeyer drew his impressions and experiences.
Not least due to this intensive work abroad, he was able to graduate with a grade of 1.0 and with distinction. And not only that. The diploma thesis “Concept & Building Design for a European Space Exploration Center” with Prof. Mag. Arch., M. Arch. Carsten Roth, was not only awarded the faculty prize “best diploma student” of the TU-Braunschweig, but also the 1st prize in the architecture magazine “Detail” and the 1st prize in the leading online architecture magazine, the “Baunetz”.
